15-Year Old Was Killed Saturday Night

A 15-year old was killed Saturday night in an apparent street racing hit and run accident. The boy was jogging around 9:15pm on Kipling at West Asbury Avenue and was struck by a PT Cruiser while crossing the street, neither car stopped. The victim was taken to St. Anthony’s Central Hospital with serious injuries but was pronounced dead a short time later. There have been no arrests in the case but police have located the driver of the PT Cruiser through a tip from a relative. Almost 40,000 people were killed last year in the United States from auto-pedestrian accidents. Most are avoidable especially in the cases of street racing and even more tragic when a young persons life is taken due to the negligence of someone else.

Words can never describe the agony felt after losing a loved one in an unnecessary accident. Family members left behind often have to learn how to come to terms with their loved one’s death while facing new and unexpected financial burdens. The loss of income coupled with outstanding expenses require swift attention.
