According to CBS Denver, a car exploded in Colorado Springs on September 5 after it was struck from behind by another vehicle at the intersection of Cheyenne Mountain Boulevard and Highway 115. The two vehicles involved were a Mercedes and a Volkswagen. The Mercedes allegedly had five oxygen tanks stored in the back of it and two or more of the tanks exploded after the Volkswagen crashed into the back of it. Two police cars and one fire truck were damaged by pieces of debris as a result of the explosion. Both of the drivers involved in the accident were injured as well. The driver of the Mercedes received a spinal fracture in the accident and the driver of the Volkswagen (Joshua Morgan, 23) was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and was also hospitalized for injuries. No additional injuries were caused by the car accident or the explosion which followed that were reported from the scene.
